Got to catch up - been away too long. Taining is coming along nicely. The distances are all within reach on the sprint tri coming up June 6th. key isue has been keeping the discipline. You know you are on track when you get "edgy" whenever you have to miss workout days. New tule - when traveling, never stay at a place without a fitness center. Spent a few days in Phoenix at South Pointe Mountain Resort - sweet!

Off the trainer
and outside
at last. YEAH!
It is still cold in Iowa! But - just had to get off the trainer and out onto the road with this new bike. So far I've avoided the old "timberrr!" off the bike when you forget that you are hooked to the bike with clipless pedals. Took a short 11 mile ride in the 43 degree 25 mph wind - but this is sweet. Three sports is better than one! The conditioning for swim, bike, and run  [We'll see about that after the first tri huh?]

Been away for a while...  Time to catch up with the blog. Training is going well - spending the rest of March still doing 4 day a week weight training - trying to keep and maybe gain a little muscle. Then it will be hunkering down with the endurance training and going to maintenance on the weights. First event is June 6 at the Pigman Sprint Triathlon near Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Staying motivated is critical for the long haul of conditioning. See more on motivation at my article on the Beginner Triathlete web site. [ Go to the Article ]  I had to read it myself this past week. Oh! Some good news - set up a routine at the Y where I swim in the wellness center. Helps to have a change up in weight routine. They checked my body fat index - Four months ago it was 22%.  Last week it is down to 11% - just about competition level for me. Maybe 8 or 9% by tri time??
